Dallasites101, a lifestyle and events platform, needed a custom illustration for their annual “Naughty or Nice” bar crawl in the Fort Worth Stockyards. My role was to design a versatile illustration that captured the festive spirit while celebrating the iconic Western imagery of the Stockyards, ensuring usability across both print and digital formats.
The Ask: Blending Western Charm with Holiday Cheer
The challenge was to merge Fort Worth’s unique cowboy culture with Christmas elements, creating a timeless design that could be reused for future events. The illustration needed to:
- Highlight recognizable Stockyards landmarks like Leddy’s Boots sign and Mule Alley.
- Integrate Christmas elements without overshadowing the Western theme.
- Work seamlessly across various media formats, from flyers to social media.
Design Process: From Concept to Completion
Research & Inspiration: Gathered visual references of the Stockyards and Western holiday aesthetics.
Sketching & Wireframing: Used Procreate to create vector-style sketches, incorporating architecture, cowboys, and festive decorations.
Client Collaboration: Iterated based on feedback, adjusting text and adding the client’s logo for brand visibility.
Final Design Highlights
